Parking a car Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Parking a car - Essay Example ger is not interested in you; he is only interested in the arrival and departure of your car in the parking lot and the fees that you pay for the service. Americans knew that this serious problem parking was going to tax their brains. With the introduction of automobiles, the fundamentals of travel styles changed and it had severe impact on the American landscape. Cars caused congestion; they restricted the right-of-way from the pedestrians and caused big traffic congestions in small towns and metropolitan cities. Cars in motion caused problems; cars at rest caused more problems! The space required for parking is staggering but often underestimated. 6. MGT599 MoD 2 SLP Assignment External Environment Analysis Essay
MGT599 MoD 2 SLP Assignment External Environment Analysis - Essay Example Furthermore, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations are also introduced by the Food Standard Agency in order to safeguard the food products through proper analysis and evaluation of biological, chemical and physical risk arising at the time of developing or manufacturing it (Food Standard Agency, 2011a). This law is introduced in order to protect the food product from procurement of appropriate raw materials, handling, manufacturing and ultimately selling or consumption, by target customers. Therefore, by procuring proper raw materials, high quality of ingredients might be offered to the customers, so as to reduce the intensity of obesity or any other harmful disorder. This regulation acts as an opportunity for the Kraft food group as it might prove effective in attracting a wide range of customers towards the brand. By improvement in the range of customers, the profitability and brand value of the Kraft food group may get amplified in the market among other rival players. Economic: The economic factors such as consumer spending, disposable income, inflation, unemployment etc might offer significant impact over the organization offering food products. The recent economic downturn of 2007-2008 created considerable changes over the food retail industry. This crisis also offers negative impact over the buying behavior of the customer, due to lack of disposable income. As the rate of unemployment increases; the rate of per capita income of the customers decreases significantly and so their buying behavior also gets hindered significantly (Mintel Group Ltd, 2009). Therefore, due to reduction of the buying behavior, the rate of total sale and profitability of the organization reduces that hinders its total revenue and market share. Thus, such type of economic impacts acts as a threat for the Kraft food group as it decreased its total sale and profitability in the

An acceptable defense Essay Example for Free
An acceptable defense Essay Insanity: Insanity defense has been considered by many as a ââ¬Å"loopholeâ⬠in the law allowing a number of guilty people to be set free. However, this so-called ââ¬Å"loopholeâ⬠does rarely set people free of criminal charges. Moreover, most of the cases involving insanity defense are murder cases. Many scholars, judges, attorneys and clinicians are said to be divided concerning the definition of insanity. In reality, though, it is not possible for them to be truly divided concerning the definition of insanity seeing that clinicians today have modernized means of determining a personââ¬â¢s mental state by means of psychological testing and interviews. What is more, psychologists are aware that there are neurological processes affecting a personââ¬â¢s mental state. Hence, brain scans can easily be used to understand the physiological condition of an individual charged with murder. Even the history of insanity will be made available through such brain scans, seeing that there is a genuine difference between the neurological processes of people showing abnormal and normal behavior. Therefore, scholars, judges, and attorneys must know that their understanding of the definition of insanity is irrelevant if clinicians are available with scientific evidence of insanity of an individual charged with murder. Given that psychological testing too is scientific, there should be no ââ¬Å"loopholeâ⬠whatsoever in this area. As a matter of fact, insanity is an acceptable defense. Eric Michael Clark shot a police officer to death because he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and believed that aliens were stalking him. According to the law of Arizona concerning insanity defense, the man had to prove with ââ¬Å"clear and convincingâ⬠evidence that he was too mentally ill to know that he was wrong to murder an innocent police offer. The Supreme Court got involved in Clarkââ¬â¢s case. Fortunately, the man was backed by the American Psychiatric Association in addition to the American Psychological Association ââ¬â two entities based on true scientific principles. Most states of America have differing laws regarding insanity defense. Now with the support of both the American Psychiatric Association as well as the American Psychological Association ââ¬â who believe in helping out mentally ill individuals that have been charged with murder although their mental health is not in their control ââ¬â it is hoped that the states of America will work on a single law on insanity defense in order to make the ââ¬Å"loopholeâ⬠in the law completely vanish. This single law would also make insanity defense cases more straightforward than before. After all, abnormal psychology is a science which has made it clear that there is an illness called paranoid schizophrenia, and there are many people suffering from illusions, delusions, and hallucinations. To doubt that these people are ill is, in fact, insanity as well as a sin. This is because we will be depriving of treatment a lot of mentally ill folks if we do not even believe that they are mentally ill. And, what if these people enter jails to commit more murders? What if they kill themselves in prison after they have been unlawfully charged with crime? Whose responsibility would that be? In point of fact, mentally ill people require immediate healing instead of punishment. Besides, putting them through court trials may be worsening their mental condition. Many people who oppose the insanity defense have assumed that mental illness is a myth, and that those who label others as mentally ill are actually imposing violence and control on people. Thomas Ssasz argued that psychologists and psychiatrists use such labels only to make political and ethical decisions. It can be argued, however, that people who are unaware of the scientific basis of abnormal behavior are ignorant at best. Such people are the reason why books on the history of abnormal psychology claim that in the olden times people killed numerous mentally ill people simply because they were mentally ill. There was no treatment for such people, and nobody cared enough to stand for their right to be treated. Slowly but surely, future generations began to believe in the reality of mental illness. ââ¬ËHumane treatmentââ¬â¢ of the mentally ill was suggested as a cure. Today, however, we are abusing the principles of ââ¬Ëhumane treatmentââ¬â¢ by putting the mentally ill people through prolonged court trials. It would be best, therefore, for society to acknowledge that first of all, psychology is a science just as much as biology; and psychologists and psychiatrists are qualified to determine the mental condition of an individual. If, in fact, mental illness were a myth, the Supreme Court and everybody else involved in insanity defense trials would have worked on also closing down mental hospitals as well as the clinics of the well-educated psychologists and psychiatrists, who happen to know their science more than lawmakers would ever be expected to understand psychology. The fact that the government has not closed down psychiatric clinics and mental hospitals shows that society at large does instinctively believe in the reality of mental illness and realizes how painful it can be. Hence, it is utterly useless to argue against the insanity defense. Bibliography Lane, Charles. ââ¬Å"Supreme Court to Review Insanity Defense. â⬠Washington Post. Portraying the Urban Envirnoment Through the Film Entre Nos Essays
The film Entre Nos has many global issues related to it such as how to succeed in new urban environment, surviving through a close knit of friendship while being unknown in a big city, and dense urban environments. Entre Nos demonstrates how living in a dense urban neighborhood is hard because the population is so high which makes it harder to get jobs and find housing. The film also demonstrates how having a close knit of friends in a big city can be beneficial and can help you succeed in the urban environment. The struggles of immigration are affiliated to Entre Nos along with the article ââ¬Å"The Urban Prospectâ⬠by Lewis Mumford which discusses the population crisis in the dense urban environment. A dense urban neighborhood is defined as a geographically connected area with a population density of at least 1,000 people per square mile. Entre Nos takes place in Queens, New York which is the fourth-most densely populated county in the United States. Living in such a populated area can cause many issues within itself but increases if you are not familiar with the area like Mariana and her children were in the film. Since there are so many people in these dense neighborhoods, work and living arrangements are hard to come by. With work, people in the general work force in the United States want someone educated who can speak English fluently. This is hard for people of immigration because the majorities of them are foreign and are having to pick up the language of English. The education part is also hard because normally they have been working all of their lives to support their families and so education was neither a necessity nor time manageable. In the article ââ¬Å"The Urban Prospectâ⬠Lewis Mumford states ââ¬Å"Given the high densities for... ...ck into our economy. In conclusion, Entre Nos demonstrated that the population in a dense urban neighborhood is the cause of the housing and work force being low. Without proper education and fluency in the English language, it is harder to become successful in the United States. The film also demonstrates how having a close friend while living in the big city can help you in the long run. Fellow immigrants are trying to work with each other not in competition. They share their experience and their knowledge with one another. The struggle of immigrants was the last issue that arose. While many immigrants are coming here to seek fulfillment in their lives, Americans have such a negative outlook on them that they are not willing to help them. They see them are thieves for taking our money rather than hard working people trying to create a better life for themselves.
